Everyone deserves to feel at home in their own skin and to experience relationships that are fulfilling and true to who they are. My mission is to help you create a healthier, more compassionate relationship with yourself and others because even if you don’t believe you deserve that right now, I know you do.
Hey! I’m Amanda Kohl, MA, LMHC. Helping women who are feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, and anxious find relief means so much to me because I’ve been there. When I first began my journey with therapy, I started as a client. I had beliefs about who I was and what I deserved that didn’t serve me or the ones I loved. Therapy helped me untangle all the anxiety and past trauma so I could see myself more clearly and create a life that aligned with who I really am, not who I thought I should be. Now as a therapist, I feel so grateful to help guide other women towards relief and deeper connection with themselves and others.
The tools in my “toolbox”:
There are powerful factors that lead to success in therapy that really having nothing to do with the kind of therapy a therapist is trained in. The strength of the relationship between client and therapist, a client’s motivation, and personal beliefs about therapy are just a few that play a big role.
However, the type of therapy does play a part in therapy’s success and the therapy modalities I use are evidence-based (which means they been studied and researched by reputable sources). Each therapy listed below helps you understand your emotions and behaviors more deeply so you can begin making changes in your life.
In our sessions, I’ll pull from these evidence based therapies to help us create a treatment plan tailored to your goals and needs:
Person-Centered Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Exposure and Response Prevention
Accelerated Resolution Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
My Approach to Therapy
My perspective, first and foremost, is person-centered. I know that you know yourself best and although I will help you make changes and move towards your goals, I will never force you to do anything or tell you you’re wrong about how you’re feeling.
We’ve got tools in our therapy toolbox to help you handle situations and relationships that are difficult but the bulk of therapy with me looks like a conversation and taking time to really understand what it is you’re feeling and experiencing those feelings together.
My role is to guide and support you in finding the calm, confidence, and freedom you’ve been searching for.
Inclusive, Holistic Care
I work with women of all backgrounds and identities, including those in LGBTQIA+ communities. No matter where you’re starting from or what you’ve been through, you belong here.
You deserve to stop carrying the weight of “being perfect” and start living in a way that feels true to you.

The therapist-client relationship is a huge part of what makes therapy successful or not, which is why I offer free 20-minute video consultations. This allows you to ask any questions you may have, get to know me, and it will give us both a sense for whether we’re a good fit.
